Guide to Using the Library

There are no charges for accessing the library's resources. Please use them freely. The library allows you to borrow resources from other libraries.

Residents of Iwate Prefecture, students and employees commuting to the region, and students whose home prefecture is listed as Iwate, are all eligible to borrow library materials.

For first-time users, it is necessary to fill out an application for borrowing materials, so please provide ID that gives evidence of your home address such as a vehicle license, health insurance registration or student card.

Up to 15 books per person can be borrowed for up to 3 weeks, and up to 3 videos and CDs can be borrowed for up to 3 week.
Depending on the books being borrowed, the period of time for borrowing can be extended up to a maximum of 3 weeks from the date when the book was first due for return.
However, when the book you wish to extend your borrowing is already reserved, extentions will not be accepted.
Extension of borrowing periods can also be made over the phone.

When the library is open please ensure you return resources to the customer counter. You are also able to use the return chutes on the 1st and 3rd Floors, however please be aware that with this return method in some cases the items may not be registered as having been returned until the next day. Please do not return videos, CDs and picture story shows by the returns chute.

We can help with your enquiries starting with simple requests right through to helping you find specialist resources for research purposes. You can consult the desk staff at the Information Counter on the 3rd Floor.
